Family Tree Photo Frame

Now that my family is getting larger, we have been looking for a family tree photo frame to keep images of everyone together in the right chronological order.  There are quite a few different options available to buy online and I have reviewed the top 3 items below for you.

Having the images all together looks really great and there are very different frames available, depending on what you need.

My father has been researching our family tree for some years now and has traced back to his great-great-grandfather, who was of European descent.  More recently, now that I have had 2 children and other parts of the extended family are growing up, getting married and having their own children, keeping track of everything is something we want to do - but in a visual form.

The printouts from the genealogy computer programs does not really look too good, especially when you get a few generations on there.  The text looks too small and they tend to be as wide as they are long.

That's when we thought of using a photo frame to store the family tree images.  We might not be able to keep a picture of everyone on there, but certainly the immediate family would fit.  We also found that some frames allow you to add extra pictured over time, which we will talk about shortly.

The following 3 photo frames are suited for a family tree and are the best options I could find online.

Family tree wall hanging

This metal frame is ideal for hanging on the wall and can hold 8 images, that are attached using hanging frames, a little like leaves on the tree.

The overall look of the frame is perfect for us to hang anywhere in the house and the quality is even good enough for us to not think it look too shabby.

We also loved the fact that, as there are 8 small frames to use and the one in the center could be used to put the family name in or a suitable quotation.

The frame is quite heavy and therefore you will need to make sure it is fastened to the wall properly, but I am sure you will not be disappointed with this one - it is one of the best selling frames on Amazon at the moment.

Check out the reviews on Amazon for more information and see how pleased people are with this photo frame.

Family tree collage frame

This cute little frame is perfect for a small family tree photo collection and is cleverly arranged in a tree shape with each of the frames packed in on top of each other.

The black frame houses 6 different images that are all slightly different sizes, which we thought made it look more interesting than a standard set of frames.

Because the 6 frames are all different sizes, you will have to trim the images to fit them in, which was a little pain.  However, we printed most of the images from the computer, so we were able to specify the exact dimensions we needed with no problems.

The quote at the bottom reads "Our Family: Growing memories one smile at a time".  Not too sickly sweet.

One aspect we liked was that the frame can be hung on the wall or stood up, using the stand at the back which is concealed when hung up.

If you click to Amazon using this link, you will get the best price for this frame.  I have seen it at a few different websites, but Amazon was definitely the cheapest and they have an excellent returns process.

Personalized family tree picture frame

personalized family tree picture frame
This was the frame that we opted to buy in the end as we thought it offered the best options for future expansion.  Also, it can be personalised too, which we thought was also a great touch.

Each of the photo frames, which measure around 3x-1.5 inches are hung on to the branches of the tree with ribbon, so you can arrange it how you like.  There are also extra frames you can buy in sets of 4 if you need to add more faces or people in the future.

We also loved the fact that the frame stands on a base, rather than hanging on the wall.  We thought that we might look at it more often if it were nearby on a shelf or table, rather than on the wall.  We were also glad it was not too big, which some of them seem to be.

We personalised the frame and had a message engraved on the small brass plaque fastened to the base, which was a nice finishing touch to the photo frame.  The message can be up to 22 characters long, but only 1 line of text - but that should be enough for most people to work with.  We just put the family name and the date.

You can buy this frame by following this link, where you can read more information about the dimensions and specifics of the product.
